the San Juan Island School Board is being secretive and at its helm sits a chairman who seems to wield some sort of oblique and obscure power to get in positions of slick secretive dealings. He was the seller of some property that was illegally bought by our county without public notice or discussion for the 'Ideal"? location for the new 'Transfer Station'. He sold it at above market level and claimed it as an eminent domain transaction which made it exempt from capital gains tax."The property seller David McCauley made out like a bandit as well. Selling the portion of the property over market value to the county for over a million dollars than what he paid for it and claiming emanate domain avoiding capitol gains taxes, meanwhile putting a slough of covenants and restrictions on the property. A couple of the bordering neighbors delayed paying their land taxes in an attempt to get their bearings about them and slow the process down and make it more transparent (a deal like this can't go through if there are unpaid neighboring taxes) enter McCauley who graciously paid the elderly peoples taxes against their wishes. Now the Elementary School Principal resigned stating that he couldn't deal with the board. But the board won't say over what and they claim its because of a privacy clause that they can't break. That is why I feel that twinge of passion rising in my veins. gag rules. secrecy. free f-n speech squelched again and the publics right to know why the board is pressuring a very popular Principal to leave. Why? No one knows. ow they are touting 'privacy' as the reason why they can't talk about why the Elementary School Principal was pressured into resigning. That is why my ears are pricked.
McCauley has always seemed 'under cover' to me. Slick sneaky controlling. Hmm the old way has to be popped open.

2/14/11 I made a mistake saying that David McCauley had not been elected as the Chairman of the School Board. I believed gossip without checking out the facts. Fox snooze style - but at least I removed the statement. I apologize for my mistake. and now I have a inflammatory statement or shall I say question to ask, Did the Elementary School Principal resign because the board wanted him to spy on the kids and parents? I am just asking. My intuition feels like that is why they are hiding the cause of his ethical decision to resign. I am just asking.......
